The Three E's of Spending on Safety

safety-training

Safety is expensive. Without it, a single accident could be enough to bring down an entire company. Properly enforced, it comes with recurring costs for training, equipment, and extending time on the job to make sure it’s done the right way without cutting corners. Either way, money will be spent. This begs the question: when does it make the most sense to spend money on safety?

In an ideal world, money would be spent on safety to prevent accidents and injuries from happening. The sad truth of the matter is that it’s typically spent after the disaster happens. According to the Department of Labor, every year more than 4.1 million workers suffer a serious job-related illness or injury. Worse than that, they report that over 4,500 die on the job—that’s 12 workers a day. The only way to save both lives and money from accidents is to prevent them in the first place.

PRECO Recognizes Recipient of the Excellence in Safety Award

Mike Posz 2017 PRECO Electronics proudly announces Fraley & Schilling's Michael Posz as the recipient of the 2017 Excellence in Safety Award. Posz, who took over as Fraley & Schilling's Director of Safety in 2016, has cultivated an existing safety culture with the introduction of new technology, increased education, and additional onboard training. The results of his efforts realized a 50 percent decline in incidents in 2017 for Fraley & Schilling while his organization has grown from 200 to more than 500 trucks.

Posz's persistence in improving daily driver safety habits ties back to ongoing education and training, incorporation of new ideas and safety procedures, as well as the application of safety technology. The combination of these three safety pillars is the key to allowing Posz to break bad habits.
